the science of life

ai·yr·vay·duh

Our bodies are incredible vessels, and there’s so much to discover about how they work and what they can do. The word “Ayurveda” simply means the science of life. It’s an ancient Indian practice that focuses on achieving health and well-being through a nutritious diet, herbal remedies, and lifestyle changes.

For more than 3,000 years, people have used Ayurvedic disciplines to restore balance, pursue healing, and create harmony in their lives. The system is based on the belief that we all have life forces called doshas that govern our bodies and minds. They are within us, and they’re also connected to the universe on a larger scale.

When even one of our doshas is thrown off balance, it can cause us to feel physical, mental, or emotional distress. Restoring that balance is key to feeling our best, inside and out.

At Refuge Healing Studio, we offer several different types of Ayurvedic programs, classes, and workshops throughout the year. These include:

The Align Protocol

The Align Protocol

The Align Protocol is for anyone interested in Ayurvedic living. These are 1:1 sessions where we will walk through a personalized approach to Ayurveda for your specific needs. Energy work included.

The Pachamama Protocol

The Pachamama Protocol

The Pachamama Protocol isdesigned to support women who are in any stage of planning for a baby. This protocol supports you with a 3 limbed framework - Conscious Conception, Embodied Pregnancy and Nourished Postpartum. You can start this protocol at any step of the journey, even if you are well into postpartum.

Balanced Alchemy

Balanced Alchemy

Rooted in the Vedic traditions of ancient India, Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of healing and wisdom. It teaches us to live in harmony with nature and with our own unique constitution (dosha). It’s not a trend or a one-size-fits-all protocol, but a time-tested framework that honors the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. In Ayurveda, food is medicine, daily rituals are sacred, and balance is the path to vitality.

Balanced Alchemy is designed to introduce you to Ayurvedic living in such a way that meets you where you are. No saying adios to your current life, no cutting off, no changing your entire being overnight.

Rather, we ease in. We digest these teachings slowly so that they become embodied, and you can discern how to best use them in your real, everyday, holistic life.

Balanced Alchemy is a container. For 8 weeks, we will walk through the basics of Ayurveda. Here's how we will ease in--

✨ Zoom meeting once a week with an Ayurvedic teaching

✨Incorporating the practices learned each week into daily life

✨Daily journal prompts, meditations and online community to share and process with your cohort

✨Opportunities for yoga and reiki designed to assist in our journey

We begin July 3rd at 7:30pm on zoom. Can't make it? Replays will be provided each week for those who are unable to join live.

Autumn Equinox Cleanse

Autumn Equinox Cleanse

A Week of Grounding, Releasing & Inner Nourishment
September 2025 | One Live Zoom Gathering + Daily Practices

As the golden leaves begin to fall and the days grow shorter, the Autumn Equinox marks a powerful moment of balance between light and dark. In Ayurveda, autumn is governed by the airy, mobile Vata dosha, which can bring creativity, clarity—and imbalance if not grounded. This seasonal transition is a potent time to gently slow down, release summer’s intensity, and nourish your body and mind before winter.

This one-week Ayurvedic cleanse is designed to support your physical and emotional well-being as you align with the rhythms of the season. Through grounding recipes, calming meditations, and intentional journaling, you’ll create space to let go and prepare for the inward journey of the colder months.

What’s Included:

One Live Zoom Call (recorded if you can’t attend): We'll gather in community to set intentions, learn Ayurvedic principles for fall, and walk through the cleanse process.

Seasonal Recipes: Warming, easy-to-digest meals designed to pacify Vata and restore balance.

Guided Meditations: Daily audio meditations to support mental clarity, calm the nervous system, and deepen seasonal awareness.

Journal Prompts: Reflective prompts to help you explore what needs releasing and how to root into deeper nourishment.

This cleanse is not about deprivation. It’s about simplicity, rhythm, and reconnecting with your inner wisdom. Whether you're new to Ayurveda or have experience, this guided container offers gentle support as you align with nature’s cycle of letting go.

Spring Equinox Cleanse

Spring Equinox Cleanse

A Week of Awakening, Clarity & Gentle Renewal
March 2026 | One Live Zoom Gathering + Daily Practices

The Spring Equinox arrives with equal light and dark, heralding a return of life, color, and movement. In Ayurveda, spring is governed by the heavy, moist Kapha dosha. While this energy supports stability and growth, it can also lead to stagnation—physically, mentally, and emotionally. This makes spring the ideal time to reset your system and shed the weight of winter.

Our one-week Ayurvedic cleanse offers a holistic way to gently detoxify, refresh, and reawaken your energy in harmony with the season. Through light, cleansing recipes, enlivening practices, and introspective journaling, you'll invite in clarity and vibrant momentum for the months ahead.

What’s Included:

One Live Zoom Call (recorded if you can’t attend): We’ll gather as a group to learn about Ayurvedic spring practices, set intentions, and review the cleanse structure.

Seasonal Recipes: Light, invigorating meals designed to pacify Kapha and gently detox the body.

Guided Meditations: Daily meditations to awaken energy, foster renewal, and align with spring’s expansive movement.

Journal Prompts: Thoughtful prompts to explore new beginnings, intentions, and what needs clearing to make space for growth.

This spring cleanse is an invitation to awaken your senses, activate your energy, and realign with the earth’s natural momentum. Whether you're looking to lighten physically or emotionally, this experience provides compassionate guidance and Ayurvedic wisdom to support your renewal.
